Learn to express yourself freely and create unique characters
In Ladybird, I will explore the art of mixed media and how to take advantage of its many possibilities.
In the first section, I will teach you about a selection of some of my favourite substrates and ways to create some very unique one. I will also talk to you about my go-to supplies and alternatives that can be used to create these substrates.
In the second section, we will explore the basics of drawing a bird which will help draw or paint any birds and incorporate them into your painting in unique ways. On top of the drawing videos, this section includes 2 lessons on some of the substrates created in the first one.
The third section contains 4 bigger projects. with step by step video explanation, in each video, I will often give you alternatives products or ideas so you can adapt the project as you may like.
It's your choice to create them as is or to create your characters.
In a 4 and bonus section, I thought it will be fun to create with you one of my fabric birds, which I also call soft sculpture. We will be creating a pattern* together, and show you how you can adapt them to different shapes and birds, how to decorate your bird, the possibilities for this are endless.
I will use a sewing machine to go faster but it's not necessary and many parts will be hand stitch.
* My pattern will be included in pdf form for personal use only.

Create a soft sculpture bird
Not only is this project fun on its own and worth a class dedicated to it making this class
a two for one I'm convinced creating this 3D bird will help you understanding and drawing the bird in 2 dimensions. You can up-cycle practically any fabric to create these sculptures and they can be adapted so easily that no birds will be the same. Note that I'm using a sewing machine to go faster but that every step can be done by hand it will simply take you a bit longer but it's worth it, your piece will be even more unique! (printable & downloadable pdf file) You can sell any fabric bird created in the class but not the pattern which remains my property and is protected by copyright. |
